We believe it is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born. We will provide a home for women experiencing crisis pregnancy, and through loving direction, help them gain the life skills needed to support themselves and their children.


You don't have to face this alone. If you are in crisis, contact us right away to apply for a place at St. Clare's Home, open to all women aged 18 and older of any race, religion, or background.

  • Who operates the home?

    The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston wants to provide a loving home environment for women with unplanned pregnancies that have no where to live or feel unsafe in their current living situation.

  • How does it work?

    A loving home with accountability and encouragement, moms in crisis will have food to eat, classes on parenting, time management, budgeting, career/interviewing, cooking, and opportunities to pray with the other women in the home.

  • How long can I stay?

    • One year after the birth of your child, during your pregnancy and after
    • Your children under the age of 5 are also welcome
  • How long can I stay at St. Clare’s Home after I have my baby?

    You can stay up to one year after giving birth to your precious baby.

  • Can I continue my education if I come to St. Clare’s?

    Yes! We will work with you to continue your education, whether you are pursuing your G.E.D. or attending a local college. Child care assistance is also available to help support you along the way

  • If I have other children already, can they come and stay with me?

    Yes, we will allow your other children to come and stay with you.

    Certain age restrictions on the other children will apply in this case.

  • What if I have an immediate need or emergency?

    • We are available Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Do you work with a hospital or medical provider?

    We will assist in getting women connected with Medicaid for pregnancy. 

  • How many women can St. Clare's Home accommodate?

    St. Clare's mission can house eleven women total. Eight in the Greenville Home and three in the Charleston home.

  • How will my donation be used?

    Monetary donations will be used to support the home. The mission of St Clare’s Home is to provide a home for women experiencing a crisis pregnancy and help them gain the life skills to support themselves and their families.
